Flamenco Biennale

The Flamenco Biennale is celebrated in Seville, lighting up its streets with this art and passion. For almost 40 years now, when September of even-numbered years comes, Seville has been immersed in flamenco. Throughout August, citizens and tourists are offered a program in which the most famous artists sing, dance and play. Singers, dancers and guitarists take the stage for Sevillians, lovers and connoisseurs of this art. Seville is filled with the raucous sound of a Spanish guitar, the ringing of palms and the knock of zapateado.  From the Lope de Vega Theater to the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza, everything is in motion and the rhythm of these artists.

Despite the fact that flamenco comes from the south of Andalusia, it was perceived as a heritage associated with the culture of Spain and is very important for modern Spaniards. It is a musical genre with a great aesthetic content and a unique personality that distinguishes it from the rest of the music inhabiting the musical world. This is the result of the fusion of voice, dance and guitar accompaniment. Flamenco is also always amazing costumes that complement the images and stories told by songs and dances. In general, the expression that you need to see live at least once in your life.

The best flamenco music and the best performers will be presented at the biennale. Some of them are more innovative, while others are more conservative. For exactly a month you will be able to enjoy this art, which will flood the city in more than twelve points. Flamenco is an art that is not taught - it is passed down from generation to generation. This is taught to their children at flamenco parties, at every family meeting. Because flamenco speaks about feelings, it is impossible to learn it by notes in advance.
