Spain will beat the USA tariffs

The WTO said that the anti-subsidy tariffs imposed by the United States on Spanish producers in 2018, from which the industry has been suffering all this time, were illegal. However, the organization's rules on anti-dumping tariffs may remain.

The tariffs were introduced by the US Department of Commerce in July 2018 after two California producers of table olives filed complaints about anti-dumping and anti-subsidies. Depending on the company involved, these tariffs ranged from 30 to 40%. Now we expect that the United States will take appropriate steps to comply with the WTO ruling so that the export of ripe olives from Spain to the United States can resume under normal conditions.

According to the Spanish Association of Exporters and Producers of Table Olives (Asemesa), producers of black table olives in Spain have suffered export losses of more than 150 million euros since July 2018. Therefore, it is now important to return the situation to its initial state.
